2025-2026 Season Kick-Off

As we look forward to another successful season at PIBC, we’re stoked to have our dates locked in and a huge few months ahead! The season opener is our Annual Presentation Night on Saturday, October 11, where we’ll crown last year’s champions and celebrate everything that makes this club so special.

We’ve got an awesome night lined up — with DJ Lokke on the decks! It’s epic to see Lachie Eastwood giving back to the club and keeping the spirits alive. If you haven’t already, grab your tickets now through our website — it’s set to be a fantastic night!

We’re also pumped to be kicking off our shortboard season with the Annual Bang Bang Cup Tag Team Event presented by quiksilver, on Sunday, October 26 — open to all local competitors, bringing the community together for a day of fun, friendly rivalry, and great surfing. There’ll be amazing prizes up for grabs, plus a huge raffle on the day, a huge thanks to Quiksilver for providing prizes for the event.

Entry is just $15 per competitor, with funds going directly to support our Australian Boardriders Battle campaign. Sign-up night kicks off the night prior, on Saturday, October 25 at 6pm at Bang Bang, with team announcements at 8pm followed by the big raffle draw with a surfboard as the major prize and Quiksilver give aways. Make sure you come down, get involved, and show your support for Bang Bang Cape Woolamai, who have been incredible supporters of the club.

On top of that, we’re stoked to present “A Night With Rip Curl Featuring Dane Henry” at Rip Curl Islantis, 6pm on Tuesday, September 30th. Fresh off his gold medal win at the ISA World Surfing Titles, Dane will be joining us for a Q&A session, plus sharing a 5–10 minute reel of his best clips from the past year. PIBC will be running the BBQ, with all proceeds going back to the club — so come down, grab a feed, and hear from one of surfing’s brightest young stars.

With everything locked in, it’s shaping up to be another fun, action-packed year at PIBC — in and out of the water. Here’s to a huge 2025/26 season!

Join us for PIBC's annual Presentation Night
In addition to presenting awards for the 2024/2025 Season, we have a well known local DJ, unlimited woodfired pizza from Gather Round Pizza Wagon and lots of time for dancing. Drinks will be available to purchase from the PIBC bar.

Under 18's
This event is open to all PIBC surfing and social members, but due to the nature of the event, it is not suitable for our younger members in the Supergroms program. Any Cadets and Juniors under 18 who attend the event, will also need a parent/carer to purchase a ticket and accompany them to the event.

A Message from the Club Captain

Season Kick-Off
I’m really excited for the season ahead, which kicks off next Sunday, 5th October, with the Victorian Qualification for the Australian Boardriders Battle. We’ve been holding training sessions over the past few Sundays, and the energy from the team has been unreal. It’s put us in a great position to push for qualification to the National Final at Burleigh. We encourage everyone from the club to come down on the comp day and support the team wearing PIBC gear!

Final Team Selections for ABB
We still have 4–5 spots to finalise in the team. These will be decided on the day, based on the conditions and what gives us the best chance of success. Ash Easton and I will make the selections, and depending on how many heats we surf, the line-up may change as the day goes on.

Open Division Pathway
This season, we’re also excited to announce changes to our Open Division qualification pathway. Under 18 surfers and Open Female surfers won’t need to pay to enter two divisions. Instead, they’ll qualify directly for a spot in the Opens. The top two surfers from 16s boys, 18s boys, 18s girls, and Open women will be seeded into the Opens, with seeding prioritised across divisions. Extra spots will be filled based on rankings. Juniors can opt out if they choose. This system is designed to promote high-quality surfing, mirror the pathways into the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach Trials, and build pride in earning a place. The first event of the season will use last year’s seeding.

Division Representatives
We’re also introducing Division Representatives this year. A representative from each division will be carefully chosen by Jake and me, based on their leadership, reliability, and commitment to the club. Being selected as a rep is an honour, as they will act as the key contact with the Club Captain and play an important role in supporting their division.

Reps will coordinate their division’s contribution to running one contest during the season, including organising members for setup, judging support, marshalling, and pack-down. This initiative is about recognising leaders within our divisions, strengthening community spirit, and ensuring contests run smoothly while staying fun for everyone. We’ll be reaching out to surfers over the next few weeks to let them know if they’ve been selected for this role.

Looking Ahead

1. It would be great to see everyone support the ABB team on Sunday the 5th of October and drive home our home court advantage! It's likely to be held at Smiths Beach based on the forecast. Any updates will be on PIBC socials. 

2. We'll see you all (+families/friends) at Bang Bang Sign up & Raffle night on Saturday 25th of October.

All groms will receive a membership card and lanyard that is required to be stamped at check in for each event. Lanyards will be given out at first session / your first attendance for the season.

Major Partnership Opportunity

The PIBC trailer has served us well, but it’s time for an upgrade. We're seeking sponsorship support to help us purchase, fit out and customise a competition van; a more functional, efficient, and sustainable solution for PIBC events.

The new van will feature a solar panel and battery system to power essentials like a drinks fridge, judging iPads, megaphone, and speakers. It will also include an awning for shade, a slide-out BBQ and fridge for easy catering, and customised equipment drawers. The spacious rear area will carry our tent, tables, chairs, and flags, keeping us event ready.

Sponsor logos, including a major partner graphic alongside the PIBC logo, will be prominently displayed on the van, offering lasting brand visibility. With a projected lifespan of over 15 years, this upgrade is a smart, long-term investment for both our club and supporting businesses.

Backing this van project means helping PIBC continue as a strong force in the local surfing community, while giving sponsors a valuable platform for exposure.
